I am a sirius subscriber and have been since Howard Stern made the switch from terrestrial to satellite. I love my iPhone.
Sirius + iPhone = WINNER!
And, I am pissed. I have been waiting anxiously for 4 weeks since the announcement that the Usirius Starplayr had been submitted to Apple for approval as an app for the iPhone. They originally posted that the approval period for an iPhone app is 2-4 weeks. Today is 4 weeks exactly. I have been checking the Nicemac website daily for updated information and today this press release was posted:
NiceMac is made up of 4 members all of which have always been die-hard fans of Sirius and XM. Over the years we have individually contributed to the ad-hoc player offerings available for Sirius XM internet content. Last year, we all had the fortune of crossing paths at which time we decided to band together and focus on helping deliver Sirius XM content to subscribers everywhere and anywhere.
Update: As of yesterday, the uSirius StarPlayr Application for iPhone still had a status of "In Review" with Apple. Later in the evening we became aware that the application was not rejected, however could not be approved at this time.
As fans, we are committed to continuing to work with all parties involved as necessary in any capacity required to see this product to market. It is our goal, as it has always been, to release this application at as low of a price point as possible, if not free of charge.
We thank all of our supporters and users of our current offerings, as well as those who have been patiently waiting and Beta testing while we work to bring uSirius StarPlayr for iPhone to market.
Sincerely,
The NiceMac Team
Come on!!!
Why Apple, why? There are no specific reasons listed on the Nicemac forums other other than "It's confidential, and it isn't dead."
I think that behind the scenes talks are in the works and I am hoping that it will be approved soon.
I listen to sirius on my computer everyday and just installed the Starplayr for Windows and it is fantastic. A huge upgrade from the pain in the ass web version of Sirius's web radio requiring log in each time. The Starplayr for windows version logs in automatically and allows you to preset 20 stations. Very slick.
I really hope that this can be worked out quickly and the iPhone Usirius Starplayr will be released out of beta to the public.
